Fine Liner Foundations and Trend-Inspired Journal Spread Workshop

In this 44-minute, two-part workshop, artist and lettering specialist Emma Chin (@emchidesign) teaches you how to master essential fine liner skills and put them into practice by creating a trend-inspired cottagecore journal spread. Using the MONO Drawing Pen Colors, 8-Pack (Size 03), you’ll start with foundational techniques, then apply them directly to a cohesive and functional journal layout.

This workshop is designed for beginners, hobby artists, and experienced creatives who want to improve their precision line work and learn how to translate those skills into finished projects. In Part 1, you’ll develop pen control, create consistent line weights, and prevent smudging. In Part 2, you’ll apply these techniques to draw cottagecore-inspired doodles; including plants, objects, and decorative elements, and arrange them into a spread that balances style and function.
